Deloitte Malta Appoints New Chief Executive Officer
Deloitte Malta has appointed Malcolm Booker as its Chief Executive Officer with effect from 1 January 2014, replacing Paul Mercieca who retired at the end of 2013.
Malcolm is a Chartered Accountant by profession, and has practised in the firm’s tax department for the past 20 years, serving nearly exclusively international tax clients. Malcolm currently heads the tax service line and was previously Reputation and Risk Leader and Director of Independence.
In his statement to the firm, Andrew Manduca, Chairman of Deloitte Malta congratulated Malcolm on his appointment and expressed his conviction that the firm would, under Malcolm’s leadership continue to build on the success that had been achieved during Paul’s tenure. Andrew further expressed the firm’s indebtedness to Paul for his outstanding contribution over a period of 34 years and for the pivotal role he played in all the firm’s key initiatives over the years.
Deloitte Announces Appointment Of Two New Directions And A New Principal
Deloitte has announced the appointment of two new directors and one new principal within the Malta member firm with effect from 1 January 2014. Annabelle Zammit Pace has been promoted to the position of Director within the Audit Service Line, Craig Schembri has been promoted to the position of Director within the Tax Service Line and Dimitrios Goranitis has been appointed to the position of Principal within the Financial Advisory function.
Craig Schembri joined Deloitte’s Tax Service Line in 2003 after graduating as an accountant from the University of Malta. Craig was highly involved in the firm’s corporate direct tax compliance team for a number of years. He currently works on various advisory and compliance projects mainly relating to corporate operational restructuring, mergers and acquisitions. Craig has lectured on the Malta Taxation Module as part of the ACCA course organised by BPP.
Annabelle Zammit Pace joined Deloitte in 1996 after graduating as an accountant from the University of Malta. Her work experience has mainly been in auditing, covering a broad cross section of private and public companies operating in various industries, both locally and internationally. Annabelle is also a Fellow of the Malta Institute of Accountants.
Dimitrios Goranitis joined Deloitte’s Financial Advisory Services in 2012. Dimitrios has over eight years of strategy and transactional experience in the private and public sector including financial services and privatisations. Dimitrios holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pireaus in Athens and a Master of Business Administration from Pace University – Lubin School of Business, New York USA.
